Remember when being in a band meant you need to at least play and instrument or sing?
Proof that great bands will always be great.
Have a nice weekend.

WoW Minipets: Part 5
Quest Reward Pets
As quite possible the most important aspect of World of Warcraft is questing, obviously there would be some quests that would reward our favorite little companions. I've tried to rank these in order of ease and level requirement but as a few are somewhat arbitrary I will have to beg your indulgence if you don't agree with my order.
Westfall
The first quest pet to obtain is the Westfall Chicken. Well first in the sense that an extremely low level player could complete the quest. Currently this is an Alliance only quest but that is set to change in patch 3.1. But as the Alliance is the best faction anyway you should already be on an Alliance character in the first place! I'm not biased ... but back to the quest line. Find a chicken. Any chicken in the game. Make a macro for /chicken. This will cause to to cluck at the chicken. Trust me on the macro bit. You're going to have to do this quite a few times. Spam the macro at the chicken until the chicken becomes friendly and offers you the quest "CLUCK!". Once you've picked up the quest you'll need to travel to Westfall and find Farmer Saldeen. From him you can purchase Special Chicken Feed. Run back to your chicken and give it the treat. The chicken will scratch around for a bit and drop a Chicken Egg. Voila! Your first quest minipet!
Feralas
The Sprite Darter Hatchling is another Alliance only pet (seeing a trend here? I know I am...) that can be obtained through a quest. At level 38 you can pick up the first quest, but I'd recommend being a little higher. This quest will take you about an hour at level 80 and part of it is timed so I'd also recommend doing it in one shot. But as someone else has already written a much better guide then I ever could, I'm just going to link it and give them credit.
Sprite Darter Hatchling Guide
But don't worry Horde. After patch 3.1 the wild sprite darters in Feralas will have a chance to drop one of the eggs. If you can stomach killing the cute little things to get it!
Tanaris, Feralas, Hinterlands and Booty Bay
As I'm sure by now you already have your Westfall Chicken and your Ancona Chicken, why not pick up a Mechanical Chicken as well? This one is a little more involved. There are random drops while questing in Tanaris, Feralas andThe Hinterlands. Each beacon starts a quest where you have to follow the mechanical chicken and protect it from the monsters intent on killing it. After completing all three of the quests you can simply go to Booty Bay, talk to Oglethorpe Obnoticus, and pick up a mechanical chicken of your own!
Darkmoon Faire (Elwynn Forest, Mulgore, or Terrokar Forest)
This quest is the easiest of all, but as it requires a few Dark Iron Ale Mugs I ranked it a little more difficult. Now Dark Iron Ale is easily obtainable on the AH, or you can run to Blackrock Depths to get some yourself, or you can bribe a friend with Direbrew's Remote and go directly to the Grim Guzzler and pick some up yourself that way. Either way you need at least 2, but I'd recommend having more just in case.
First you must find Morja at the Darkmoon Faire. Toss your first Dark Iron Ale Mug near her feet. Her pet jubling (looks like a frog) will come and drink the ale which will open up her quest "Spawn of Jubjub". Give her a Dark Iron Ale Mug and she will reward you with an Unhatched Jubling Egg. Just like the Mysterious Egg you'll have to wait a week for it to hatch, but unlike the other egg you know exactly what you'll get this time. Your very own Jubling!
LBRS (Lower Blackrock Spire)
There are actually two quests in LBRS that give minipets as rewards. One is the Smolderweb Hatchling and the other is the Worg Pup.
To get your cute little spider you'll have to complete the quest En-Ay-Es-Tee-Why (say it out loud). To get the only puppy currently in the game you'll have to complete the quest Kibler's Exotic Pets. LBRS can be done with relative ease even with a small group or 2-3 at lvl 70 or 80. A stealth class such as a druid or rogue could even solo these.
Terokkar Forest
In Terrokar there is a bird, Skywing. He wants your help but as he is a bird he just has to hope for the best. I mean in a world with magic how on earth could a bird talk ... but anyway. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.
After finding Skywing you'll accept his quest which involves following him and helping him take out a nasty elite. Well, nasty at lvl 63. By the time your character is 65 you should be good to go to do this on your own. After going back to Shattrath and turning in the quest you'll get Miniwing, who is a small copy of Skywing. Unfortunatly this bird doesn't talk either. But you can always carry him in your bag. Wait, I'm confused...
Well that's it for the quest pets. Coming soon: Fishing pets, Dropped pets, and Holiday pets.
By the way, we've already hit 50 pets! That means if you've gotten this far you're now the proud owner of Stinker! Soon we'll all be at the 75 mark and have our own Little Fawns as well.

WoW Minipets: Part 4
Reputation Rewards
While some vendors will trust anyone with the care of their charges, others will trust only those who have proven themselves loyal to their cause. Each of these pets requires either Revered or Exalted with the faction selling them.
Sporeggar
Anyone who has ventured as far as Zangermarsh will have noticed the gentle spore bats that make the area their home. The Sporeggar, a peace loving people, have tamed the tiniest spore bats and will allow others to purchase them. But first you must prove trustworthy and gain an Exalted reputation before you can have a sporebat of your own.
Tiny Sporebat
The Sha'tari Skyguard
The Skyguard make it their mission to defend Shattrath from aerial attacks. While originally you wanted to become exalted with the Skyguard for their unique looking mounts (which my druid rode until she got her Netherdrake, and I still call a flying dingbat) in patch 2.4 the powers that be added this cute little guy. Once again you need to be exalted to get him. As there are quite a few dailies associated with the Skyguard this really isn't too difficult, it just takes a while.
Nether Ray Fry
The Kalu'ak
The Kalu'ak are a tribe of Tuskarr that dwell in Northrend. The Kalu'ak are mainly fishers and whalers, and as such many players will choose to become exaluted with them for the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole. But besides just having the only epic fishing pole in the game, the Kalu'ak also raise these cute little penguins. Again, you'll need to be exalted to get him.
Nurtured Penguin Egg
The Oracles
The Oracles are a faction of Gorloc tribes living in Sholazar Basin. They are currently at war with the Frenzyheart tribe. Now, while the choice of which faction to choose (you can eventually do both) may be difficult for some players for the dedicated pet collector there is only one choice. The Oracles. For after achieving a Revered reputation with the tribe you can pick up a Mysterious Egg. The egg has a 7 day hatching period, so exactly one week after picking up your egg you can see what is inside. The egg has a chance of hatching into four minipets.
Proto-Drake Whelp
Cobra Hatchling
Tickbird Hatchling
White Tickbird Hatchling
None of these are BoP so even if you get repeat pets you could sell them on the AH or send them to your friends or alts. The egg also has a very small chance of dropping a rare mount.
Reins of the Green Proto-Drake
But be warned, for not all endings are happy ones. If you aren't blessed by the luck gods you could end up with only an Aged Yolk for your troubles.
Well thats all for the vendored pets that require certain reps with vendors. Hopefully I'll be a little more on top of things in the near future and return to posting again! Coming soon: quested pets, fished pets, and holiday pets.

WoW Minipets: Part 3
So far we've seen vendored pets that take relatively little effort to obtain from their respective factions. Now we'll look at pets that either faction can purchase. These pets all take a little more effort to achieve, whether due to travel or their in game cost. Many of these pets require travel to Outland or Northrend and are therefore extremely difficult to obtain on low level characters. Our next post will show the pets that require certain reputations with specific factions to purchase, but all of these pets just require finding the vendor.
So here are the "second tier" vendor pets of Azeroth.
Thousand Needles
In the shimmering flats of Thousand Needles, Magus Tirth sells this little grey chicken. If you've done any questing in this area you'll notice that when he gets a little angry at his apprentice he turns his apprentice into a chicken too!! If you don't feel up to a trek to Thousand Needles, this pet is often available on the AH for quite the reasonable sum.
Ancona Chicken
Booty Bay
Now who better to buy a few pets from then a Pirate Supplies Vendor? Narkk in Booty Bay sells both of these cute little flying companions. These are not the only parrots in the game but they are two of the most easy to acquire.
Parrot Cage (Cockatiel)
Parrot Cage (Senegal)
Netherstorm
At the Stormspire in Netherstorm, Dealer Rashaad and the other members of the Consortium sell hard to acquire items as well as items that can't be found anywhere else. However, remember that whenever you're dealing with the Consortium you'll be paying a premium for the privilege. Caveat emptor!
Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling
Brown Rabbit Crate
Cat Carrier (Siamese) - this also has a chance to drop from a mob in The Stockades, but I'll touch on that later
Mana Wyrmling
Red Moth Egg
Dealer Rashadd also sells these items that can be obtained from other vendors that we've mentioned in previous posts.
Cockroach
Crimson Snake
Parrot Cage (Senegal)
The Darkmoon Faire
Every month the Darkmoon Faire travels through Azeroth selling rare goods. While the faire is well known for the Darkmoon Cards, a young vendor also has a few things to offer. Flik runs around much like Yarlyn does, and can sometimes be hard to catch. And if he only has one pet to offer make sure to return often while the Faire is in town, and you'll eventually be rewarded with two new frogs for your collection.
Tree Frog Box
Wood Frog Box - Flik only has one on him at any time, but there is a fairly short respawn timer. A little persistence goes a long way with this vendor.
Dalaran
Deep in the sewers of Dalaran, in the black market, Darahir sells a single ghostly pet. This pet is bind on pickup, and at 40g is one of the more expensive vendor pets. But this creepy little guy is more then worth it!
Ghostly Skull
Well, if you've been following my guide this puts you at 39 pets. Thats one more achievement down, and only two left to go. You're getting closer and closer to your first pet reward every day!

WoW Minipets: Part 2
Last time I talked about the vendored pets available on the Alliance side. There are also quite a few unique pets available on the Horde side as well. Both Horde and Alliance characters can acquire all the pets I've mentioned, but to pick up the cross-faction pets will require help from a friend. All these pets can be transferred to the other faction through the neutral auction houses.
Horde Vendor Pets
Orgrimmar
In the western part of Orgrimmar Xan'tish the Snake Vendor wanders with his pets in tow. Although such a warm climate as Durotar posses, it seems a little warm for snakes doesn't it? This is the best place for low level Orcs and Trolls to pick up their first pets.
Black Kingsnake
Brown Snake
Crimson Snake
Thunder Bluff
On the high rise of Thunder Bluff, away from the noise and chaos, Halpa quietly raises his prairie dogs. If you go and talk to him he'll happily sell you the whistle that calls them and you can have a prairie dog of your own. This is the place to start for Tauren looking to collect pets. Also, as this one of the more highly saught after Horde pets a person who knows how to play the AH can make quite a bit of money off these cute little guys.
Prairie Dog Whistle
Undercity
Down in Undercity, past the bank and beneath the stairs, lonely Jeremiah Payson sits with his beloved cockroaches. If you ask him why he is so sad, it is because every time someone steps on a cockroach it makes him cry! Poor Jeremiah. This is the easiest pet for new Undead to aquire. After the prairie dog, the cockroach is the most looked for Horde pet on the Alliance side. Yes, I know there is another shady character that sells cockroaches, but I'll get to him later...
Cockroach
Silvermoon
South of the Dead Scar in Silvermoon Woods, Jilanne raises dragonhawk hatchlings as pets for those who admire them. Jilane is slightly more difficult to find then the other low level pet vendors as she does not make her home in Silvermoon City. This is the place for new Blood Elves to pick up their first pets.
Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling
Red Dragonhawk Hatchling
Silver Dragonhawk Hatchling
Well that's it for the easily purchased Horde pets. If you've picked up all the pets I've mentioned so far, with the exception of Lil' Timmy's White Kitten, you're already at 18 minipets! Thats two pet achievements down, with only three left to go!! Next we'll look at the pets that can be purchased by both the Horde and Alliance, as well as what it takes to get them.

Wow minipets: Part 1
Anyone who has played World of Warcraft with me for more then 30 seconds knows that I like to collect minipets. Minipets or companions are one of the randomly fun things that Blizzard has placed in WoW for no reason other then to add some silliness to the game. Currently there are quite a few achievements associated with minipets in WoW.
Can I Keep Him?
Plenty of Pets
Plethora of Pets
Shop Smart, Shop Pet ... Smart
Lil' Game Hunter
Now ever character in the game can achieve Can I Keep Him? with very little effort, but getting to Shop Smart, Shop Pet ... Smart and Lil' Game Hunter will take time and/or gold to achieve. I'm going to be writing my version of a guide to achieving whatever number your minipet goal is without needed TGC or CE pets. So here goes.
There are multiple ways to pick up minipets in WoW; from a vendor, as a quest reward, during an in-game holiday, as a random drop, and through external game features such as TGC and CE pets. The first place to start when looking to become a serious pet collector is to start buying the vendored pets.
Alliance Vendor Pets
Stormwind
Outside Stormwind Donni Anthania, the crazy cat lady, lives with all her precious felines. This is a good place to start as she has for sale four different types of cats for a relatively small sum. A careful player as low as level 1 can find Donni. This is also a good place for low level dwarfs and gnomes to find their first pets, as Stormwind can easily be reached through the Deeprun Tram.
Cat Carrier (Bombay)
Cat Carrier (Cornish Rex)
Cat Carrier (Orange Tabby)
Cat Carrier (Silver Tabby)
Inside Stormwind Lil' Timmy wanders randomly trying to find a home for his new white kitten. You can hear him asking passersby why his dad won't let him keep his kitten, what does allergic mean anyway, and what does that have to do with his kitties? Lil' Timmy is a rare spawn that only appears every 3-6 hours and travels a set path. He sells only one kitten and is in quite high demand. Expect to either spend hours camping his spawn point or to pay for someone else's trouble on the AH.
Cat Carrier (White Kitten)
Ironforge
On a farm in Dun Morogh Yarlyn Amberstill plays with her rabbit pets. Yarlyn will be happy to sell you one of her bunnies, but you'll have to catch her first. Managing to click on Yarlyn to open the vendor pane is the most frustrating part of purchasing this pet. Someone quit giving that kid so much caffeine!!
Rabbit Crate (Snowshoe)
Darnassus
At the entrance to Darnassus, Shylenai the Owl Trainer sits with her birds. This is the place to start for Night Elf pet collectors. Shylenai is the easiest of all the Alliance vendors to find.
Hawk Owl
Great Horned
The Exodar
Inside The Exodar Sixx carefully raises her pet moths from the egg. If you ask nicely she'll sell you one or two as well. Sixx is the place to start for Draenei players.
Blue Moth Egg
Yellow Moth Egg
White Moth Egg
Well that's it for the easily purchased Alliance vendored pets. Next post will be the Horde pets and then those pets available to both faction. And as always, if you want the best minipet website available check out Warcraftpets. In addition to having information on each minipet in the game, you can also keep a handy checklist that lets you keep track of your minipets as you collect them. Here is my collection.
