WoW Minipets: Part 5

Quest Reward Pets

As quite possible the most important aspect of World of Warcraft is questing, obviously there would be some quests that would reward our favorite little companions. I've tried to rank these in order of ease and level requirement but as a few are somewhat arbitrary I will have to beg your indulgence if you don't agree with my order.

Westfall

The first quest pet to obtain is the Westfall Chicken. Well first in the sense that an extremely low level player could complete the quest. Currently this is an Alliance only quest but that is set to change in patch 3.1. But as the Alliance is the best faction anyway you should already be on an Alliance character in the first place! I'm not biased ... but back to the quest line. Find a chicken. Any chicken in the game. Make a macro for /chicken. This will cause to to cluck at the chicken. Trust me on the macro bit. You're going to have to do this quite a few times. Spam the macro at the chicken until the chicken becomes friendly and offers you the quest "CLUCK!". Once you've picked up the quest you'll need to travel to Westfall and find Farmer Saldeen. From him you can purchase Special Chicken Feed. Run back to your chicken and give it the treat. The chicken will scratch around for a bit and drop a Chicken Egg. Voila! Your first quest minipet!

Feralas

The Sprite Darter Hatchling is another Alliance only pet (seeing a trend here? I know I am...) that can be obtained through a quest. At level 38 you can pick up the first quest, but I'd recommend being a little higher. This quest will take you about an hour at level 80 and part of it is timed so I'd also recommend doing it in one shot. But as someone else has already written a much better guide then I ever could, I'm just going to link it and give them credit.

Sprite Darter Hatchling Guide

But don't worry Horde. After patch 3.1 the wild sprite darters in Feralas will have a chance to drop one of the eggs. If you can stomach killing the cute little things to get it!

Tanaris, Feralas, Hinterlands and Booty Bay
As I'm sure by now you already have your Westfall Chicken and your Ancona Chicken, why not pick up a Mechanical Chicken as well? This one is a little more involved. There are random drops while questing in Tanaris, Feralas andThe Hinterlands. Each beacon starts a quest where you have to follow the mechanical chicken and protect it from the monsters intent on killing it. After completing all three of the quests you can simply go to Booty Bay, talk to Oglethorpe Obnoticus, and pick up a mechanical chicken of your own!

Darkmoon Faire (Elwynn Forest, Mulgore, or Terrokar Forest)
This quest is the easiest of all, but as it requires a few Dark Iron Ale Mugs I ranked it a little more difficult. Now Dark Iron Ale is easily obtainable on the AH, or you can run to Blackrock Depths to get some yourself, or you can bribe a friend with Direbrew's Remote and go directly to the Grim Guzzler and pick some up yourself that way. Either way you need at least 2, but I'd recommend having more just in case.

First you must find Morja at the Darkmoon Faire. Toss your first Dark Iron Ale Mug near her feet. Her pet jubling (looks like a frog) will come and drink the ale which will open up her quest "Spawn of Jubjub". Give her a Dark Iron Ale Mug and she will reward you with an Unhatched Jubling Egg. Just like the Mysterious Egg you'll have to wait a week for it to hatch, but unlike the other egg you know exactly what you'll get this time. Your very own Jubling!

LBRS (Lower Blackrock Spire)
There are actually two quests in LBRS that give minipets as rewards. One is the Smolderweb Hatchling and the other is the Worg Pup.

To get your cute little spider you'll have to complete the quest En-Ay-Es-Tee-Why (say it out loud). To get the only puppy currently in the game you'll have to complete the quest Kibler's Exotic Pets. LBRS can be done with relative ease even with a small group or 2-3 at lvl 70 or 80. A stealth class such as a druid or rogue could even solo these.

Terokkar Forest
In Terrokar there is a bird, Skywing. He wants your help but as he is a bird he just has to hope for the best. I mean in a world with magic how on earth could a bird talk ... but anyway. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

After finding Skywing you'll accept his quest which involves following him and helping him take out a nasty elite. Well, nasty at lvl 63. By the time your character is 65 you should be good to go to do this on your own. After going back to Shattrath and turning in the quest you'll get Miniwing, who is a small copy of Skywing. Unfortunatly this bird doesn't talk either. But you can always carry him in your bag. Wait, I'm confused...

Well that's it for the quest pets. Coming soon: Fishing pets, Dropped pets, and Holiday pets.

By the way, we've already hit 50 pets! That means if you've gotten this far you're now the proud owner of Stinker! Soon we'll all be at the 75 mark and have our own Little Fawns as well.
